La La Love You

The Pixies played Village Underground in Shoreditch last night, pretty surprising given the size of the space (tiny). They were actually really really good... For a few more photos check the Plus1 website.

Martin and Rinko

The other night I went to see Rinko Kawauchi in conversation with Martin Parr. As well as seeing some of her beautiful photographs, the talk was great too.
The event was put on by Still/Moving, a non-profit organisation trying to inspire UK photographers. Their next event involves JH Engstrom, can't wait.

Sheckler hits the Birdcage

Ryan Sheckler is probably the person I would expect to see down my local, but I guess the quest to find a chill girl knows no limits.

Serious Sam Barrett

This evening Yorkshire's finest folky bluesman Sam Barrett is playing at The Slaughtered Lamb in Clerkenwell. I recommend you go, he's really good.

Plus1 number 12

The new issue of Plus1 has hit the streets, or if you prefer; download. Derek Albeck did the cover...
Inside you'll find Toddla T,
and Crystal Antlers. There's also a great photo piece by Hin Chua, as well as a ton of other good stuff, go check it.

Tokyo Transfer

Last night saw the premiere of the new Traffic Skateboards video 'Tokyo Transfer'. Nick Zorlac was our host for the evening, taking control of Harrow's Trinity pub. Anyway the video's amazing: The mix of crazy Japanese architecture and the quickfooted prowess of the Traffic team makes a great combination... I think it's also really limited edition, so grab one whilst you can.
After the film Steak and Psycho's new band 'White Lightning' played... TOTAL ROCK AND ROLL!

Will nature make a man of me yet?

Here's an outtake from a shoot I did with the artist Charming Baker.
His paintings are really great, check them out here, or even go and see his show in London from June 5th.
For more from this shoot, as well as an interview, look out for a future copy of Plus1 mag.

Roadburn

Last week I escaped our wonderful isle to visit the Roadburn festival in Tilburg, Holland.
Met up with this lot...
Shoe shop in Tilburg.

More from this trip in in Plus1 soon.

Not only is Keegan Sauder one of the nicest people you're ever likely to meet, he rips too! Frontside air out of a massive crater, Prissick 2007.

No, not that one

A new edition of Sidewalk mag came back from the printers today, I guess that means it'll be slowly filtering out across the UK over the next few days. This issue contains an interview I shot with London ripper, Tom Knox, plus a load of other stuff... go get!

Some things I have recently seen

Blank Tape Spillage Fete at Cecil Sharp House.
I'm not sure what's in this one, but I really liked one called The Matinee Orchestra'.
Kid Acne show at Stella Dore.
The ouija boards are cool!
Bavarian Beer House; it's going on holiday, but in London. Oh, it stinks too.
Scholes and Hoppy; album out soon.

Plus 1 #11

Apoligies for the lack of updates, moving house has left me internet free for a short while, which is both frustrating and liberating in equal measures.
Anyway, the new issue of Plus 1 should be hitting the streets about now, The cover features the actor Jeff Stewart who is well known for playing Reg in 'The Bill'.
If you can't be bothered to go and find a copy a free download is available here.
In this issue I shot features for both Emmy the Great,
and Mike Bones,
amongst a load of other bits and bobs too, enjoy!

That Summer Feeling

Last night I went to see Jonathan Richman play in Hoxton, it was really good, as expected.
We hung around for a bit afterwards, when we eventually left we found Jonathan on the street outside playing for fans.
We tried to get Jonathan to come and see the Alan Weekes Quartet with us, but he was having none of it.
The AWQ were amazing, as usual. Here's Brian Edwards playing saxophone. Unfortunately The Haggerston seems to increasingly frequented by guys with moustaches who insist on talking over the band; SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Screaming Hand

A while back I was lucky enough to get to see the excellent Jay Reatard play a short gig in the warehouse of their record company. Some photos went to Plus1, but here is an outtake for your viewing pleasure!

The dreamers of dreams.

A lot of interesting stuff has ended up on the walls of Slam, but I think this has probably been there the longest, and is probably my favourite. A young Toby Shuall sits on Mark Gonzales' shoulders many many moons ago. Original photo by Thomas Campbell.

This is happening way too much lately... You'll be missed Kristian.
